Have you ever worked or maybe even visited a company or a factory where they were wrapping up and preparing packages and boxes for shipping? This can be an interesting process to watch. On most occasions these factories will have specific machines just for the duty of strapping and wrapping the packages up automatically. The only human interaction that may be required is the push of a button. So even though they are simple to operate, these machines are in fact quite complex.
With the newer technologies of today, things are different from how packaging was done back in the old days. Back then instead of using strapping machines and wrapping machinery, manual workers would be the ones who would package, wrap, and even strap the packages. Many factories still have these individuals working for them but many have gone over to use purpose-designed machines because it is allowing them to prepare more packages for shipping with a smaller workforce.
An above example would be if the company or factory needs to ship larger boxes. How the machine would work in this case is as follows. A pallet containing the large box is placed onto a conveyor belt. Once on the belt the large box will first go through the strapping machine. What this machine does is wrap a thin strap of nylon, heavy duty, around the box to make sure that it is fully secured. Alone these straps do a wonderful job of sealing a box tight.
After the strapping process the large box will then move along the conveyor to the wrapping machine, which rotates the box alongside a clear plastic feed part. As the larger box spins around the plastic is wrapped around the box, helping to seal it tight.
If you have not seen this process before it can be something unique and interesting to watch. The way that these machines are built to work with each other may not be rocket science but this is a very complex procedure. These systems allow the operators who would have wrapped and strapped the packages themselves to be working on something else hence freeing up more time to be more productive.
