If your dishwasher has quit working and it is time to purchase a new one, think about doing a self installation before calling a plumber in Alpharetta or anywhere else for that matter. This project is often easily accomplished in a short amount of time. The installation of the dishwasher requires little plumbing knowledge and the manufacture will include step-by-step instructions to help with the project.
You must first start by removing the old dishwasher. The dishwasher should be attached to the upper counter with two screws. This is usually all that will be holding the dishwasher in. After removing these two screws you can gently start to slide the dishwasher out. There will be electrical connections and a water line so care must be taken not to pull these connections apart. Simply give yourself enough room to loosen these connections. Make sure the power is turned off to the dishwasher before disconnecting the electrical. After removing the electrical connections, the water line, and the drain line you can slide the old dishwasher completely out.
Take this opportunity to clean out the area well. Wipe down the sides of the cabinets and sweep up any debris on the floor. Now you are ready to install the new dishwasher.
Slide the new dishwasher into the existing hole slightly. Again, you only need enough room to make your connections before sliding the dishwasher all the way in. Once you have reconnected the water lines and the drain line you can carefully push the dishwasher all the way in. Use caution not to pinch the water lines or the drain hose.
Most electrical connections on dishwashers are located near the front. This will allow you to push the dishwasher in all the way and and then reconnect the electrical wires.
Be sure to secure the dishwasher to the cabinet with two screws. Before placing the front cover on the dishwasher, turn the water and electricity back on to the dishwasher. Run a cycle on the dishwasher to make sure there are no leaks underneath. When you are satisfied there are no leaks you may then reattach the cover.
